How it started...
Before JOD began, the founder had a vision of people coming together weekly for the purpose of expression and a love for words and poetry. In May, 2019 that vision was launched with the help of the founder's business partners and a few close friends. He started a weekly poetry event that would host spoken word, poetry, R&B & soul artists, as well as instrumentalists.
Becoming a team event...
Once JOD was formed, it took Poetry In the Park to an entirely new level. With the synergy and passion injected by the 20+ initial members, Poetry In The Park quickly rose to becoming a Detroit staple for poetry.
Now
Now Poetry In The Park is expanding rapidly via its core crowd and organic marketing. Its become a home of vulnerability and a safe place for poets from first timers to professionals to share their voices.
